Think you mean the dwarves were resing each other. Especially if you die, depending on how far away the res shrine is, its quite likely they would have ressed everything you killed by the time you got back. If you want to stop them "respawning", use frozen soil to stop resing, then kill all the dwarfs with reses, like the monks and defenders. Think they also have resmers with res chant and one of the warriors (think it's cleavers) is a para with sig of return. Most also carry res sigs that you may need to get them to use up too if you get in a battle of attrition. Else you'll make no progress at all since they'll all be resed by the time you come back and you'll just get worn down by your dp.
And minions last for ages since it seems like every monk out to about 2 radar ranges will run in and heal all minions, combined with jagged bones, you'll just find it hard to see the minion horde decrease if you're dying alot and supplying more bodies. Could just sit somewhere and wait things out to thin the horde a bit but that could be a long time. Oh, and the really big horde would most likely mean you aggroed more than one mob, leading to multiple necros. And since the monks all heal minions, it's like they joined together to form one uber mob. And the monks WILL run a LOOONG way (and pull the rest of their mob with them) to heal stuff. You'll need to carefully pull them apart, by pulling from as far as possible. One mob will hopefully run back before another and you can slowly separate and pick them off one by one that way.
